Dr. Robin Lewallen is a board-certified dermatologist and board-certified Mohs micrographic surgeon and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology who practices both medical and surgical dermatology. She has a special interest in complex medical dermatology, including psoriasis and eczema, with expertise in biologic medication management. She also has a passion for early skin cancer detection, utilizing advanced dermatoscopy and state-of-the-art imaging such as FotoFinder technology. Originally from Gastonia, North Carolina, Dr. Lewallen earned her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Economics at Wake Forest University, followed by a research internship at the CDC in Atlanta. She returned to Wake Forest for her medical degree, internal medicine internship, and dermatology residency, where she served as Chief Resident and was honored as the National JDD Dermatology Resident of the Year. Before relocating to Orange County and joining Newport Beach Dermatology & Plastic Surgery (NBDPS), she practiced in Sunnyvale and Santa Cruz, California, for three years. Dr. Lewallen has published 13 peer-reviewed articles, authored nine dermatology book chapters, and is the editor of three dermatology textbooks. She currently sees patients at NBDPS on Wednesdays and Fridays and welcomes new patients for both medical and surgical dermatology needs. In addition to her clinical practice, she serves as a dermatology consultant for the technology industry. Outside of medicine, Dr. Lewallen enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters, practicing yoga, and cycling on her Peloton.
