Lip Filler: Rejuvenate Your Lips! | Jennifer Moller MS. PA-C

As we age, we lose volume in the lips and around the mouth. Deflation occurs, the lips thin, and we develop “smokers lines” (the vertical lines around the mouth). Previous supple lips look dry, thin, and aged.
What can you do? Lip Rejuvenation!
Lip rejuvenation includes restoring lost volume and accentuating the natural contour of the lips using hyaluronic acid, also known as “filler”. Hyaluroinc acid is also used to soften the fine lines and wrinkles that surround the mouth and are equally as important to treat.
My favorite lip filler to give a nice natural look is Belotero. It is great for treating the fine lines and wrinkles that surround the mouth; helps define the vermilion border (where lip liner is applied), and give a natural look.
For a fuller lip I love Juvederm. Juvederm creates more volume in a thin lip. If you want more pout to your lip, or have a great deal of deflation, Juvederm would be a better option for you.
Aesthetic balance with all facial features should be taken into consideration when injecting your lips. Most women are afraid of their lips looking “done” or “duck-like”. You can achieve a very natural, youthful appearance without looking overdone. LESS IS MORE! …Especially when it comes to enhancing lips.
A careful examination of the lips and facial features are very important. I like to have a good discussion about treatment goals, expectations, and outcomes. I usually take 45 minutes to inject the lips because I like to stop and evaluate the improvement throughout the procedure to ensure balance is being maintained.
Below is an example of a patient who came in to see me for a cosmetic consult on lip rejuvenation. She is a 33 year old female who was very youthful, however her lips aged her. We discussed both options of Belotero or Juvederm. The patient had never had her lips injected, and was very nervous to look “over done”. She did not like how the vertical lines made her look like she was a “smoker”. We decided on Belotero as she wanted a very natural look, and we wanted to treat the vertical lines as well.
The picture is immediately following the procedure. I injected 1 vial of Belotero to her upper and lower lip, but mostly to her top lip because it had lost more volume than the bottom lip. The patient was very happy with how we increased the volume in her upper lip to create balance with the lower lip, and softening of the vertical lines above the upper lip. These great results were simply achieved with lip filler!
